Recently I purchased a new cookbook from Barnes and Noble, Big Vegan by Robin Asbell. Yes many recipes are on the internet now and all of the e-readers make having the recipe at our fingertips within a moments notice very appealing. However, there is something so inviting about turning the pages of a beloved cookbook, noting the pages that have been visited over and over by the smudges, dog-ear tags, and binding lines. As I perused the book my insides started to dance and my tongue began salivating. The ingredient marriages alone whispered longingly in my ears. The first night having my new cookbook I tagged all of the chapters for easy reference and the next day I started my cooking journey.
The first recipe I tried was simple, No-Knead Spelt Sandwich Loaf. The bread has a light chewy texture and simple earthy flavor. It has become my families favorite go to bread. This recipe takes 3 days all together to make, but for those of you who are like me and enjoy the convenience and speed of the bread machine, you can have the same yummy goodness within hours.
